What to expect

The shoreline is predominantly a mixture of pebble and sand. Beach shoes can be useful, particularly when entering and leaving the water. The sandy sections are comfortable for anyone planning to spend several hours on the beach. It is a compact beach, which gives it an intimate feel but means space can become limited at the busiest times of day.

Swimming and sea conditions

Water clarity is one of the attractions here, especially on calm days. The sea can feel noticeably cooler than at some of Corfu's more sheltered east-coast beaches. Snorkelling is another reason to consider it, especially around rocky edges or clearer sections away from the busiest swimmers. It is generally a family-friendly option, with normal supervision around the water.

Who this beach suits

This beach is particularly well suited to swimming, snorkelling and scenic views. If you can stay into the evening, it is also a good setting for watching the sunset.

Facilities

There are organised sections in season, making it easier to settle in for a full beach day. Sunbeds and parasols are available for hire in season. Seasonal watersports include waterskiing, jet skiing, pedalos and paragliding; boat hire is also available. Useful beach amenities include toilets, showers and changing facilities.

The beach is directly below Paleokastritsa’s main parking area. Local foot access from Paleokastritsa. Green Bus route A9 serves Paleokastritsa; continue on foot from the main resort/parking area.

Planning your visit

If you are visiting in July or August, arriving earlier in the day usually gives you more choice of space at a compact beach like this. Parking is generally easier before the main lunchtime rush. If sunset is one of the reasons you are visiting, plan to stay beyond the main beach-going hours rather than leaving in mid-afternoon.
