Ampelaki Beach

A small, relatively peaceful Paleokastritsa cove with mixed sand and pebbles, clear cool water and boat and diving activity nearby.

Ampelaki Beach has a sand, pebble shoreline. Reached on foot from the western end of the main Paleokastritsa area.

The beach is organised or has organised sections in season. Seasonal sunbeds are available. Seasonal watersports are available.

What to expect

The shoreline is predominantly a mixture of sand and pebble. Beach shoes can be useful, particularly when entering and leaving the water. The sandy sections are comfortable for anyone planning to spend several hours on the beach. It is a compact beach, which gives it an intimate feel but means space can become limited at the busiest times of day.

Swimming and sea conditions

Water clarity is one of the attractions here, especially on calm days. The sea can feel noticeably cooler than at some of Corfu's more sheltered east-coast beaches. Snorkelling is another reason to consider it, especially around rocky edges or clearer sections away from the busiest swimmers. It is generally a family-friendly option, with normal supervision around the water.

Who this beach suits

This beach is particularly well suited to swimming, diving, boat trips and snorkelling. Its quieter character is part of the appeal, particularly if you want to get away from the island's busier resort beaches. If you can stay into the evening, it is also a good setting for watching the sunset.

Facilities

There are organised sections in season, making it easier to settle in for a full beach day. Sunbeds and parasols are available on this small organised cove in season. Food and drink are available within a short walk in Paleokastritsa. Seasonal watersports are available; activities and operating dates vary by local provider. Useful beach amenities include showers.

Getting there and practical information

Use Paleokastritsa’s main paid parking area near the beach; it fills quickly in high season. Reached on foot from the western end of the main Paleokastritsa area. A short walk from the main road/parking area leads to the cove. Green Bus route A9 from Corfu Town stops a few minutes’ walk away in Paleokastritsa.

Planning your visit

If you are visiting in July or August, arriving earlier in the day usually gives you more choice of space at a compact beach like this. Parking is generally easier before the main lunchtime rush. If sunset is one of the reasons you are visiting, plan to stay beyond the main beach-going hours rather than leaving in mid-afternoon.

Choose it if you want an easy, low-effort beach day with enough nearby facilities to stay comfortably for several hours.
