Avlaki Beach

A long pebble bay south-east of Kassiopi, combining clear open water with a quieter, spacious north-east coast setting.

Avlaki Beach has a pebble shoreline. Road access reaches the western end of the bay.

What to expect

The shoreline is predominantly pebble. Beach shoes can be useful, particularly when entering and leaving the water. The generous stretch of shoreline gives you more room to spread out than at Corfu's smaller coves and makes it a good option if you enjoy beach walks as well as swimming.

Swimming and sea conditions

Water clarity is one of the attractions here, especially on calm days. Wind can pick up because of the beach's exposure, so the character of the sea can change noticeably from one day to the next. Snorkelling is another reason to consider it, especially around rocky edges or clearer sections away from the busiest swimmers. It is generally a family-friendly option, with normal supervision around the water.

Who this beach suits

This beach is particularly well suited to swimming, a quieter beach day, sailing and nature lovers. Its quieter character is part of the appeal, particularly if you want to get away from the island's busier resort beaches.

There are organised sections in season, making it easier to settle in for a full beach day. Seasonal sunbeds and parasols are available on parts of the beach. Food and drink are available at the beach or within a short walk; opening can be seasonal.

Getting there and practical information

A large parking area is available at the east end, with additional roadside parking towards the west. Road access reaches the western end of the bay. Flat, direct access from the road makes the beach relatively easy to reach. There is no direct bus to Avlaki; the nearest practical services are in/around Kassiopi, followed by a taxi or long walk.

Planning your visit

For a full beach day, late morning through the afternoon gives you the best chance of finding seasonal services operating, although this is also when organised beaches are busiest. Parking is generally easier before the main lunchtime rush.

Is it the right beach for you?

Choose it if you want an easy, low-effort beach day with enough nearby facilities to stay comfortably for several hours. Check the sea conditions when you arrive, particularly on windier days.
