The shoreline is predominantly a mixture of pebble and rock. Beach shoes can be useful, particularly when entering and leaving the water. It is a compact beach, which gives it an intimate feel but means space can become limited at the busiest times of day.

The setting is comparatively sheltered and the sea is often calm in settled summer weather, although conditions can always change. Snorkelling is another reason to consider it, especially around rocky edges or clearer sections away from the busiest swimmers.
