Katevasidi Beach

The beach has soft sand and shallow, clear water, with a peaceful atmosphere compared with the neighbouring resort beaches.

There are no organised facilities, sunbeds, food outlets or watersports at the beach. Visitors need to carry water, shade and anything else they require.

Access is the main limitation. The approach uses a narrow rough road followed by a short but steep footpath that can be slippery or muddy. Parking is very limited, so larger vehicles and busy periods need particular care.

What to expect

The shoreline is predominantly sand. The sandy sections are comfortable for anyone planning to spend several hours on the beach. It offers a useful middle ground: enough space for a proper beach day without feeling as sprawling as Corfu's largest resort beaches.

Swimming and sea conditions

Entry to the sea is gradual and relatively shallow near the shoreline. Water clarity is one of the attractions here, especially on calm days. Waves can develop when the weather changes, so it is worth judging the sea on the day rather than assuming it will always be flat. It is less naturally suited to very young children than Corfu's broad, shallow sandy beaches.

Who this beach suits

This beach is particularly well suited to a quieter beach day, swimming, sunsets, nature lovers and photography. Its quieter character is part of the appeal, particularly if you want to get away from the island's busier resort beaches. If you can stay into the evening, it is also a good setting for watching the sunset.

Facilities

This is essentially an unorganised beach, so it suits visitors who are happy with a simpler, more natural setup. Do not rely on finding sunbed hire, so bringing your own towel, shade or beach umbrella can be worthwhile. There are no dependable food or drink facilities right on the shoreline, so take water and anything else you may need. Facilities are limited, so do not assume that toilets, showers and changing facilities will be available.

Getting there and practical information

Very limited informal parking is available along the narrow access road; turning space is restricted. Reached from a narrow rough access road followed by a steep walking path. Proper footwear is recommended, especially if the final section is wet or muddy. Not suitable for wheelchair users or visitors with significant mobility limitations because of the steep natural path.

Planning your visit

If you are visiting in July or August, arriving earlier in the day usually gives you more choice of space at a compact beach like this. Parking is generally easier before the main lunchtime rush. Because refreshments are limited, bring drinking water and anything else you are likely to need before making the final approach. If sunset is one of the reasons you are visiting, plan to stay beyond the main beach-going hours rather than leaving in mid-afternoon.

Is it the right beach for you?

Choose it if peace, scenery and a more natural shoreline matter more to you than organised facilities. Check the sea conditions when you arrive, particularly on windier days.
