What to expect

The shoreline is predominantly pebble. Beach shoes can be useful, particularly when entering and leaving the water. The generous stretch of shoreline gives you more room to spread out than at Corfu's smaller coves and makes it a good option if you enjoy beach walks as well as swimming.

Swimming and sea conditions

The water becomes deep comparatively quickly, which confident swimmers often appreciate but families with very young children should keep in mind. Water clarity is one of the attractions here, especially on calm days. Snorkelling is another reason to consider it, especially around rocky edges or clearer sections away from the busiest swimmers. It can still work well for families, but younger children and less confident swimmers will need closer supervision because of the quicker increase in depth.

This beach is particularly well suited to swimming, a quieter beach day and relaxed beach days. Its quieter character is part of the appeal, particularly if you want to get away from the island's busier resort beaches.

A good-sized free car park is located behind the beach, though it can fill by midday in peak season. Road access descends to the beach; parking can be limited at busy times. The beach is level and easy to reach from the car park. Green Bus route A4 passes on the main road high above; reaching the beach from the bus requires a long, steep walk.

Planning your visit

For a full beach day, late morning through the afternoon gives you the best chance of finding seasonal services operating, although this is also when organised beaches are busiest. Parking is generally easier before the main lunchtime rush.
