Nymphes
A green inland village known for waterfalls and walking

Nymphes brings a greener, inland side of northern Corfu into view. Set on the lower slopes of Pantokrator, the village sits among trees, springs and countryside rather than beside a resort beach. Come for village-square coffee, a look around the older streets and, when the water is flowing, a visit to the nearby waterfalls. It is a rewarding change of setting if your holiday has so far revolved around the coast.
Village life and the landscape
The square is a natural place to begin or finish a visit, with cafés and places for a meal. Rather than rushing straight to the falls, leave time for the village itself: its appeal is the combination of a lived-in settlement and the leafy landscape around it. Nymphes is also written as Nymfes, so you may see both spellings on signs and route information.
The waterfalls: what to expect
The waterfall landscape is the best-known excursion nearby. A green ravine, smaller streams and cascades surround the main fall. Local tradition links the place with water nymphs said to have bathed here; treat that as folklore rather than the history of the site. The amount of water depends on recent rainfall and the season. Spring and wetter periods in autumn generally offer better prospects than the driest summer months, when there may be little or no flow.
The village and the waterfall entrance are separate stops. Published walking descriptions give an approach of roughly 1.5 km from the village, followed by the path into the waterfall area, but starting points and route descriptions differ. Check where your walk begins before setting off. Wear footwear suited to a countryside path, carry drinking water and allow time for the return. Confirm the ground conditions locally, especially after rain; do not assume the route is step-free.
A simple way to spend a visit
Start with a coffee and a short wander around the village, then decide whether to continue to the waterfalls according to the weather, water flow and your group’s walking needs. Finish with lunch or another pause in the square. You can enjoy the village even when the falls are dry, but if flowing water is the main reason for your trip, ask about recent conditions before making the journey.
Getting here and exploring
Green Bus A17 provides a Corfu Town–Nymphes connection. The published service is limited, so check the operator’s current timetable for your exact day and the return journey before committing to a visit. A village bus connection does not take you through the waterfall walk. A car, taxi or pre-arranged transfer offers more flexibility if you want to combine Nymphes with other inland stops; agree any pickup point and return arrangements in advance.
Beach time, evenings and choosing a base
There is no beach in the village. For a coastal part of the day, explore the separate guides to Acharavi and Roda. Plan transport between the village and coast rather than assuming a beach is an easy walk from an inland address.
Choose Nymphes for an inland village setting and time in the surrounding countryside. If your priority is a beachfront base, a large choice of evening bars or a holiday built around public transport, compare the coastal alternatives and check the exact position of any accommodation. For a meal or overnight stay, confirm current opening and booking arrangements directly. The listings below are a starting point for exploring what is recorded locally.

Where to stay
Planning your
Kassiopi stay
Do I need a car?
A car is not essential for exploring locally, but can be useful for trips farther afield. Check your accommodation’s position and the route to the centre before deciding.
What are the beaches like?
Our individual guides cover Kalamionas, Bataria, Pipitos, Imerolia and Kanoni. Several are compact pebble coves; each has its own access and facilities.
Is Kassiopi quiet in the evenings?
Harbour-front dining, cocktails and music bars contribute to its sociable atmosphere. Check neighbouring venues with your host if quiet evenings matter.
Can I reach Kassiopi by bus?
Check Green Bus A4 and the operator’s current timetable for your dates, exact stop, last return and final route to your accommodation.
What can I explore nearby?
Avlaki and Kerasia have their own destination guides. Check the actual road or walking route before setting out; closeness on a map does not establish an easy walk.
