Kalami
A Picturesque Bay with Literary and Coastal Character
ABOUT
Kalami occupies a sheltered bay surrounded by green hills and is one of the north-east coast's best-known small resorts. The beach, waterfront dining and boating are central to the experience.
The village is also associated with the Durrell family, adding a literary connection to its appeal. Nearby Kouloura and Agni can be explored by road, on foot in parts, or from the water.
A bay with a literary connection
Kalami combines beach time and waterfront dining with its association with Lawrence Durrell and the White House. That cultural connection adds context to a visit, but access to an individual building or business should be checked directly rather than assumed from its history. Leave time to enjoy the bay itself as well as look for the landmark.
Choosing an address around the bay
Accommodation can occupy different levels above the shore. Ask about the actual walking route, steps and parking if easy daily beach access matters. For a meal or boat excursion in a neighbouring bay, arrange both outward and return travel before leaving. A visit to another harbour can be a pleasant change of scene, but small distances on the north-east map do not necessarily mean a continuous waterfront path.
Getting around, beaches and evenings
Bus links connect the area with Corfu Town.
Kalami is a sheltered north-east bay with a beach, swimming, boat activity and waterfront places to eat.
