Kato Korakiana
Village life and culture close to Dassia
ABOUT
Kato Korakiana is a traditional village in east Corfu, set inland from the Dassia area and offering local life, cultural interest and convenient access to the surrounding east coast.
Kato Korakiana is home to the National Gallery’s Corfu Annex. As checked on 25 October 2026, it hosts temporary exhibitions only; check the current programme before visiting.
Village life with a cultural stop
Kato Korakiana offers an inland setting close to the Dassia area, with the National Gallery's Corfu Annex providing a specific cultural reason to visit. The gallery currently describes temporary exhibitions only. Check its current programme and opening arrangements rather than expecting the permanent collection to be on display.
Distinguishing the village from the resort
Accommodation marketed around Dassia and Kato Korakiana can occupy very different positions. Check whether the address is in the village, on a hillside approach or nearer the coastal road, and plan beach access accordingly. The City Bus 7 corridor is useful to investigate, but the stop-to-property route still matters. For a visit, pair the gallery with time in the village or a separate coast stop without assuming everything is connected by a flat promenade.
Getting around, beaches and evenings
The village is comparatively easy to explore on foot and is served by the No. 7 Blue Bus from Corfu Town.
No beach in the village. Ipsos and Dassia beaches are both close by on the east coast.
Quiet in the village itself, with Ipsos and Dassia providing a much wider choice of bars and late-night venues nearby.
