Using Your Phone in Corfu: Roaming, Mobile Data & eSIM Guide

Staying connected in Corfu is useful for maps, restaurant bookings, bus information, translation and keeping in touch while you travel. Before you leave the UK, check exactly what your mobile network charges for roaming in Greece because EU roaming is no longer automatically included with every UK contract.

Check your UK roaming allowance before travelling

Some UK mobile plans still include roaming in Greece, while others charge a daily fee or apply separate data limits. Check your provider’s current Greece roaming policy before travelling rather than assuming your normal UK allowance will work.

It is also worth downloading important information before you travel. Save your accommodation details, boarding information and key maps offline, particularly if you plan to explore quieter parts of Corfu where mobile signal can sometimes be weaker.

An eSIM can be an easy alternative

If your UK roaming package is expensive, an eSIM can be a convenient alternative. On compatible phones, an eSIM gives you a separate mobile data plan without removing your normal physical SIM. You can usually install it before you leave home and activate the data connection when you need it.

Before you activate an eSIM

Keep your normal SIM enabled if you still need to receive calls or text messages, but check your phone settings carefully so that mobile data uses the eSIM rather than accidentally roaming through your UK SIM. Your exact options vary by handset and network.

Useful phone preparation for Corfu

Download offline maps for the areas you intend to visit, save important booking confirmations locally, make sure your phone is unlocked and eSIM-compatible if you intend to use an eSIM, and keep essential contact details somewhere accessible even if you temporarily lose data.
