Taxis in Corfu: The Complete Guide to Fares, Booking & Airport Transfers

  • 5 min read

Taxis are one of the easiest ways to get around Corfu when you want a direct journey without worrying about bus routes, parking or luggage. They are particularly useful for airport and port transfers, late-night journeys, travelling with children or luggage, and reaching villages or accommodation that are not close to a bus stop.

Last checked: September 2026. Taxi availability, fares and booking conditions can change, so confirm the price or meter arrangements before travelling, particularly for longer journeys and pre-booked transfers.

Are taxis easy to find in Corfu?

In Corfu Town, taxis are readily available at established taxi ranks, and there are dedicated taxi facilities at both Corfu International Airport and the port. The main Corfu Taxi cooperative also operates a 24-hour radio-taxi service throughout the year.

Taxis at Corfu Airport

Corfu Airport has an official taxi stand directly opposite Terminal A. This is the simplest option if you arrive without a transfer already arranged. The Corfu Taxi cooperative also has a staffed counter inside the arrivals hall, on the left as you leave the arrivals gate.

For busy summer arrival periods, queues can form. If you are staying a long distance from Corfu Town or arriving late at night, pre-booking can make the journey easier, especially if you are travelling with children, a large group or bulky luggage.

Taxis at Corfu Port

Corfu Taxi also operates from the port and has a staffed office there. This is useful for ferry passengers, cruise visitors and anyone transferring between the port and accommodation elsewhere on the island.

How to book a taxi in Corfu

You can normally get a taxi in one of three ways: from an official taxi rank, by calling the radio-taxi service, or by booking online in advance.

  • Corfu Taxi / Radio Taxi: +30 26610 33811 or +30 26610 33812

  • The radio-taxi call centre operates 24 hours a day, all year round.

  • Online bookings are available through the official Corfu Taxi booking service.

  • Airport and port offices can also help arrange onward journeys.

Are taxis in Corfu metered?

Taxis in Corfu may operate on the meter for ordinary journeys, while pre-booked transfers are commonly offered at an agreed price. For longer journeys, airport transfers or trips to resorts, ask for the expected price before setting off so there are no surprises.

Corfu & Beyond Tip: For a longer journey, ask the driver or booking office for the expected fare before you travel. If the journey is pre-booked, keep the confirmation showing the agreed price.

How much do taxis cost in Corfu?

Taxi prices vary depending on the distance, time of day, route, vehicle type and whether you have booked any extras. The official Corfu Taxi booking service shows the estimated or final price before a booking is confirmed.

We deliberately do not publish a fixed table of resort prices here because those prices can change. When we add verified current prices for popular routes, we will date-stamp them so it is clear when they were last checked.

Can you pay by card?

For pre-booked services through Corfu Taxi, card payments are supported through the operator’s online payment system, and cash can also be paid directly to the driver. If you are taking a taxi from a rank rather than booking online, it is still sensible to check your preferred payment method before the journey begins.

Travelling with luggage

Taxis are often the easiest option if you have several suitcases, particularly when travelling between the airport or port and accommodation. If you have unusually large luggage, pushchairs, sports equipment or more passengers than a standard taxi can comfortably carry, mention this when booking so the correct vehicle can be arranged.

Travelling with children

If you require a child seat, request it when booking rather than assuming one will be available in every taxi. This is especially important for airport transfers where you know your arrival time in advance.

Accessible taxis

The Corfu Taxi cooperative states that wheelchair-accessible taxis are available. Because accessible vehicles are limited compared with the general fleet, we recommend arranging this in advance rather than relying on one being available immediately at a taxi rank.

Are taxis available late at night?

Yes. The main Corfu Radio Taxi call centre operates 24/7 throughout the year. That makes taxis especially useful after late flights, evenings in Corfu Town or when bus services have finished for the day.

Can you use a taxi for sightseeing?

Yes. Taxis are not limited to simple A-to-B journeys. Corfu Taxi also offers island tours and longer private journeys. This can work well for visitors who want to see several places in one day without hiring a car.

Taxi or bus?

For one or two people travelling on a route with a good bus service, the bus will usually be the cheaper option. A taxi becomes more attractive when you are carrying luggage, travelling late, staying away from a main bus route, travelling as a family or group, or simply want a direct journey.

Common taxi mistakes to avoid

  • Not checking the expected fare before a long journey.

  • Assuming every taxi will have a child seat without booking one.

  • Leaving an airport transfer until the last minute during peak summer periods.

  • Assuming every taxi will accept your preferred payment method without checking.

  • Trying to fit too many passengers and large suitcases into a standard vehicle.

  • Not keeping the booking confirmation for a pre-arranged transfer.

Frequently asked questions

No. There is an official taxi stand at the airport, but pre-booking can be useful during busy periods, for late arrivals or if you need a specific vehicle or child seat.

Can I get a taxi from Corfu Airport to anywhere on the island?

Yes. Taxis and pre-booked transfers serve resorts and villages across Corfu.

Are taxis available all year?

Yes. The main Corfu Radio Taxi service operates 24/7 throughout the year.

Can I book a taxi in advance for my return to the airport?

Yes, and for early-morning flights we recommend doing so rather than relying on finding a taxi at short notice.

Are wheelchair-accessible taxis available?

Yes, according to Corfu Taxi, but it is best to book an accessible vehicle in advance.

Our advice

Taxis are one of the most convenient transport options in Corfu, but they make the most sense when used selectively: airport and port transfers, late-night journeys, luggage-heavy trips and places where the bus network is less convenient. For everyday sightseeing on a bus route, public transport may be better value.
