Agios Georgios Pagon
A Beautiful Horseshoe Bay beneath Green Hills
About Agios Georgios Pagon
On this page: At a glance · Beaches · Things to do · Food & drink · Where to stay
The resort stretches around a broad bay backed by steep green hills, creating one of the most distinctive beach settings in north-west Corfu. The beach is the main focus, while accommodation and places to eat are spread around the bay rather than concentrated into one dense centre.
Afionas sits above the northern side of the bay and provides access towards Porto Timoni, making the area attractive to visitors who want both beach time and scenic exploration.
Our beach notes
Broad bay with a scenic beach.
Agios Georgios Pagon is a long, broad beach set in a distinctive horseshoe-shaped bay beneath steep green hills and olive-covered slopes. The beach has fairly coarse golden sand, with some pebbly areas. From our September 2026 visit, we found that the water becomes deep relatively quickly and felt noticeably cooler than at Arillas or Agios Stefanos Avliotes, so families and less confident swimmers should take this into account. The resort is spread along the bay rather than concentrated around a single centre. The surrounding area is particularly good for walking, with routes towards Pagi and Afionas. Afionas offers elevated views over the bay and access towards Porto Timoni. Seasonal boat hire and water-taxi services can also provide access towards Porto Timoni, and watersports are available around the bay. Its west-facing position also makes Agios Georgios a particularly attractive place for sunsets.
Choosing a position around the bay
The broad bay is the centre of the holiday, but accommodation and restaurants are spread around it. Compare the precise position of a property with the beach access and places you expect to use each day. The inland village of Pagoi is a separate destination, so confirm that a booking described with the shared name is actually where you intend to stay.
Adding village scenery to a beach stay
Afionas offers a contrasting hilltop visit, and Porto Timoni needs its own walking or boat-access plan. Neither should be treated as a casual extension of a level beach stroll. For a day without the car, check Green Bus A7 and the exact stop. When using the beach, assess conditions on arrival; the bay's attractive appearance does not tell you about water depth or the day's sea state.

Where to stay
Planning your
Kassiopi stay
Do I need a car?
A car is not essential for exploring locally, but can be useful for trips farther afield. Check your accommodation’s position and the route to the centre before deciding.
What are the beaches like?
Our individual guides cover Kalamionas, Bataria, Pipitos, Imerolia and Kanoni. Several are compact pebble coves; each has its own access and facilities.
Is Kassiopi quiet in the evenings?
Harbour-front dining, cocktails and music bars contribute to its sociable atmosphere. Check neighbouring venues with your host if quiet evenings matter.
Can I reach Kassiopi by bus?
Check Green Bus A4 and the operator’s current timetable for your dates, exact stop, last return and final route to your accommodation.
What can I explore nearby?
Avlaki and Kerasia have their own destination guides. Check the actual road or walking route before setting out; closeness on a map does not establish an easy walk.
