About Agios Ioannis

On this page: At a glance   ·   Beaches   ·   Things to do   ·   Food & drink   ·   Where to stay

Agios Ioannis lies inland in central Corfu and is surrounded by countryside. The area is best known to many visitors because of its proximity to Aqualand, one of the island's major family attractions.

Its central location can work well for travellers with a car who want to explore both coasts rather than base themselves directly beside the sea.

A central countryside base

This guide concerns the inland central Corfu Agios Ioannis, distinct from Agios Ioannis Peristeron on the south-east coast. The area's association with Aqualand gives a specific activity to investigate, but park admission, opening and services should be checked with the operator. They are not facilities shared by every local property.

Matching the location to your plans

A stay here can be considered for trips in different directions, but choose according to the journeys you expect to make most often. City Bus 8 and Green Bus B15 are connections to investigate for the wider area and Aqualand respectively, with exact stops and dates checked. For accommodation, ask how the property connects with shops, dinner and the road network. A central location does not mean that beaches on both coasts are reachable on foot.

Holiday Accommodation

Planning your
Kassiopi stay

Do I need a car?
A car is not essential for exploring locally, but can be useful for trips farther afield. Check your accommodation’s position and the route to the centre before deciding.

What are the beaches like?
Our individual guides cover Kalamionas, Bataria, Pipitos, Imerolia and Kanoni. Several are compact pebble coves; each has its own access and facilities.

Is Kassiopi quiet in the evenings?
Harbour-front dining, cocktails and music bars contribute to its sociable atmosphere. Check neighbouring venues with your host if quiet evenings matter.

Can I reach Kassiopi by bus?
Check Green Bus A4 and the operator’s current timetable for your dates, exact stop, last return and final route to your accommodation.

What can I explore nearby?
Avlaki and Kerasia have their own destination guides. Check the actual road or walking route before setting out; closeness on a map does not establish an easy walk.
