About Agios Markos

Agios Markos is a historic hillside village above Ipsos, where old churches, traditional architecture and wide east-coast views create a very different atmosphere from the resort below.
Agios Markos is the older hillside village above Ipsos. Its setting should be distinguished from the beach and nightlife along the Ipsos waterfront.
The older village above Ipsos
Agios Markos offers traditional architecture and an east-coast outlook above the busy waterfront. That separation is central to choosing a visit or stay: a hillside village address can feel very different from an Ipsos seafront address. Explore the older lanes at a pace that allows for gradients and uneven surfaces.
Combining two different settings
A village visit can be followed by time on Ipsos Beach or an evening along the waterfront, but arrange the transfer back rather than assuming an easy stroll uphill. For accommodation, ask about parking, luggage access and the route to the nearest useful bus stop. If your priority is to walk to bars and swimming every day, compare the property's exact position with a coastal alternative. Views and proximity on a map do not describe the walking effort.
Getting around, beaches and evenings
The old village is best explored on foot. Expect steep, uneven lanes and limited parking on the approach.
No beach in the hillside village. Ipsos Beach is the nearest major coastal option.
Quiet village evenings; livelier nightlife down on the Ipsos waterfront.

Planning your
Kassiopi stay
Do I need a car?
A car is not essential for exploring locally, but can be useful for trips farther afield. Check your accommodation’s position and the route to the centre before deciding.
What are the beaches like?
Our individual guides cover Kalamionas, Bataria, Pipitos, Imerolia and Kanoni. Several are compact pebble coves; each has its own access and facilities.
Is Kassiopi quiet in the evenings?
Harbour-front dining, cocktails and music bars contribute to its sociable atmosphere. Check neighbouring venues with your host if quiet evenings matter.
Can I reach Kassiopi by bus?
Check Green Bus A4 and the operator’s current timetable for your dates, exact stop, last return and final route to your accommodation.
What can I explore nearby?
Avlaki and Kerasia have their own destination guides. Check the actual road or walking route before setting out; closeness on a map does not establish an easy walk.
