About Agios Mattheos

Agios Mattheos is a large traditional inland village in southern Corfu, set among olive-covered hills. It has a strong local character and functions as a real year-round community rather than a beach resort.

The village is well placed for visiting Paramonas, Chalikounas and the Lake Korission area, making it a useful stop for travellers exploring the south-west by car.

A village base near the south-west coast

Agios Mattheos offers a traditional inland visit with countryside around it, distinct from a holiday directly on the sand. The village can provide the slower part of a day that also includes Paramonas or the Korission area. Choose one coastal direction so that the visit is more than a brief stop between drives.

Making the base fit the holiday

Ask about the exact property's parking, final approach and routes to food shopping and dinner. Green Bus B8 is the connection to investigate for the village, while onward beach journeys need their own plan. If you want to walk in the surrounding countryside, use a specific current route and check the terrain rather than assuming any track provides an easy beach connection. A village address may suit exploration better than a daily car-free beach routine.

Planning your
Kassiopi stay

Do I need a car?
A car is not essential for exploring locally, but can be useful for trips farther afield. Check your accommodation’s position and the route to the centre before deciding.

What are the beaches like?
Our individual guides cover Kalamionas, Bataria, Pipitos, Imerolia and Kanoni. Several are compact pebble coves; each has its own access and facilities.

Is Kassiopi quiet in the evenings?
Harbour-front dining, cocktails and music bars contribute to its sociable atmosphere. Check neighbouring venues with your host if quiet evenings matter.

Can I reach Kassiopi by bus?
Check Green Bus A4 and the operator’s current timetable for your dates, exact stop, last return and final route to your accommodation.

What can I explore nearby?
Avlaki and Kerasia have their own destination guides. Check the actual road or walking route before setting out; closeness on a map does not establish an easy walk.
