Ano Korakiana
A large traditional hillside village rich in local culture

Ano Korakiana is a historic hillside village above Corfu's east coast, with a maze of old lanes, a strong cultural identity and an exceptional concentration of historic churches.
Lanes, churches and cultural character
Ano Korakiana's appeal lies in its older lanes, church buildings and cultural identity above the east coast. A visit is most rewarding when you leave time to wander respectfully through the village rather than expect every church to be open. Historic churches and private chapels should not be treated as an organised attraction circuit with guaranteed access.
From the hillside to the sea
Ipsos and Dassia offer separate coastal visits; the hillside village is a different base from either waterfront. When choosing accommodation, compare the actual approach, parking and walking gradients with your plans for the week. Green Bus A13 is the relevant route to check, including the return service. If you want to walk in the surrounding hills, obtain a current route description rather than assuming that a traditional lane leads all the way to the coast.

Where to stay
Planning your
Kassiopi stay
Do I need a car?
A car is not essential for exploring locally, but can be useful for trips farther afield. Check your accommodation’s position and the route to the centre before deciding.
What are the beaches like?
Our individual guides cover Kalamionas, Bataria, Pipitos, Imerolia and Kanoni. Several are compact pebble coves; each has its own access and facilities.
Is Kassiopi quiet in the evenings?
Harbour-front dining, cocktails and music bars contribute to its sociable atmosphere. Check neighbouring venues with your host if quiet evenings matter.
Can I reach Kassiopi by bus?
Check Green Bus A4 and the operator’s current timetable for your dates, exact stop, last return and final route to your accommodation.
What can I explore nearby?
Avlaki and Kerasia have their own destination guides. Check the actual road or walking route before setting out; closeness on a map does not establish an easy walk.
