Sand dunes and coastline in South West Corfu

Argyrades

A historic working village close to the south-west coast

About Argyrades

Argyrades is a substantial traditional village in southern Corfu, with narrow old streets, everyday local life and convenient access towards Agios Georgios South and the south-west coast.

Argyrades is a working inland village with an old quarter and local food options. Beaches including Agios Georgios South and Issos are separate trips from the village.

A working southern village

Argyrades offers everyday village life and an older quarter rather than a seafront resort layout. A short visit can focus on its streets and a local meal, with beach time added separately. It is useful to distinguish a property in the village from one advertised in the wider Argyrades coastal area.

Choosing your side of the coast

Agios Georgios South, Issos and Marathias are coastal destinations in their own right. Choose the beach that fits the rest of your route, and check the final approach instead of expecting one village bus stop to serve them all. If staying inland, think about the journeys you will make each morning and evening. A village stay may suit exploration, while a beach address may be simpler if swimming and waterfront meals are your daily priorities.

Getting around, beaches and evenings

The old centre is best explored on foot. Bus services connect the area with Corfu Town and nearby coastal communities.

No beach in the village. Marathias and Agios Georgios South provide long sandy beaches nearby.

Village cafés and tavernas; more bars at Agios Georgios South and late-night venues in Kavos.

Planning your
Kassiopi stay

Do I need a car?
A car is not essential for exploring locally, but can be useful for trips farther afield. Check your accommodation’s position and the route to the centre before deciding.

What are the beaches like?
Our individual guides cover Kalamionas, Bataria, Pipitos, Imerolia and Kanoni. Several are compact pebble coves; each has its own access and facilities.

Is Kassiopi quiet in the evenings?
Harbour-front dining, cocktails and music bars contribute to its sociable atmosphere. Check neighbouring venues with your host if quiet evenings matter.

Can I reach Kassiopi by bus?
Check Green Bus A4 and the operator’s current timetable for your dates, exact stop, last return and final route to your accommodation.

What can I explore nearby?
Avlaki and Kerasia have their own destination guides. Check the actual road or walking route before setting out; closeness on a map does not establish an easy walk.
