Gastouri
Traditional Village and the Home of Achilleion
About Gastouri

Gastouri is a traditional inland village best known as the location of the Achilleion Palace. Green hills and residential streets give the area a very different atmosphere from the nearby coastal resorts.
Most visitors come for the palace and combine it with a wider central Corfu drive, but the village itself also offers an opportunity to see more of inland island life.
Village time alongside the palace
Gastouri's association with the Achilleion is a reason to investigate the area, but the village and palace visit should be planned separately. Restoration has affected visitor access, so confirm current opening and which parts of the palace or grounds can actually be visited. An old description of the attraction is not confirmation that every interior is open today.
A central Corfu outing
Leave time for the village instead of treating it only as a route to the palace entrance. If using City Bus 10, check the current service and final stop for your destination. For a stay, compare the exact property's position with the village, coastal roads and the places you plan to visit most often. If palace access is limited on your date, make sure the wider village-and-countryside outing still fits the day you want.

Planning your
Kassiopi stay
Do I need a car?
A car is not essential for exploring locally, but can be useful for trips farther afield. Check your accommodation’s position and the route to the centre before deciding.
What are the beaches like?
Our individual guides cover Kalamionas, Bataria, Pipitos, Imerolia and Kanoni. Several are compact pebble coves; each has its own access and facilities.
Is Kassiopi quiet in the evenings?
Harbour-front dining, cocktails and music bars contribute to its sociable atmosphere. Check neighbouring venues with your host if quiet evenings matter.
Can I reach Kassiopi by bus?
Check Green Bus A4 and the operator’s current timetable for your dates, exact stop, last return and final route to your accommodation.
What can I explore nearby?
Avlaki and Kerasia have their own destination guides. Check the actual road or walking route before setting out; closeness on a map does not establish an easy walk.
