Magoulades

Traditional Corfu between Arillas and Agios Stefanos

About Magoulades

On this page: At a glance   ·   Beaches   ·   Things to do   ·   Food & drink   ·   Where to stay

Magoulades is a traditional inland village positioned between several of the north-west's best-known coastal destinations. Its streets and local surroundings provide a contrast to the beach resorts nearby.

The village is convenient for exploring Arillas and Agios Stefanos while also offering access to the rural side of Corfu that many visitors miss.

Countryside with a religious heritage connection

Magoulades is an inland alternative to the nearby Arillas and Agios Stefanos holiday areas. The Corfu Diocese documents the monastery of Ypsili Theotokos here, giving a specific heritage connection to investigate. A religious site may have particular visiting arrangements, so check access before making it the centre of the day.

A village stop or a longer stay

For a visit, combine time in the village with a separate coastal destination rather than expecting beach facilities in the settlement itself. If staying, establish which meals and supplies are available nearby and how your property connects with the roads to the coast. Accommodation described as near Arillas can still be an inland address; ask about the actual daily journey. Respect the quiet of religious and residential spaces when exploring or taking photographs.

Where to stay

Planning your
Kassiopi stay

Do I need a car?
A car is not essential for exploring locally, but can be useful for trips farther afield. Check your accommodation’s position and the route to the centre before deciding.

What are the beaches like?
Our individual guides cover Kalamionas, Bataria, Pipitos, Imerolia and Kanoni. Several are compact pebble coves; each has its own access and facilities.

Is Kassiopi quiet in the evenings?
Harbour-front dining, cocktails and music bars contribute to its sociable atmosphere. Check neighbouring venues with your host if quiet evenings matter.

Can I reach Kassiopi by bus?
Check Green Bus A4 and the operator’s current timetable for your dates, exact stop, last return and final route to your accommodation.

What can I explore nearby?
Avlaki and Kerasia have their own destination guides. Check the actual road or walking route before setting out; closeness on a map does not establish an easy walk.
