Makrades is a traditional inland village in north-west Corfu, set in the hills above Paleokastritsa and forming part of a scenic route towards Krini and Angelokastro.

A village stop above the coast

Makrades works well as the inland part of a north-west outing: spend time in the lanes before continuing towards Krini and the Angelokastro area. It is a different setting from Paleokastritsa's bays below. The appeal is the village scale and hill-country setting, so allow time to look around rather than treating it only as a junction on a scenic drive.

Combining village and beach time

Choose either the Paleokastritsa coast or Agios Georgios Pagon for the beach part of your day, with the drive between them planned separately. If staying in Makrades, check the accommodation's actual road access and where you can leave a car before walking into the older lanes. A bus connection is useful evidence of access, but the A16 timetable and return journey still need checking for your dates.

Where to stay

Planning your
Kassiopi stay

Do I need a car?
A car is not essential for exploring locally, but can be useful for trips farther afield. Check your accommodation’s position and the route to the centre before deciding.

What are the beaches like?
Our individual guides cover Kalamionas, Bataria, Pipitos, Imerolia and Kanoni. Several are compact pebble coves; each has its own access and facilities.

Is Kassiopi quiet in the evenings?
Harbour-front dining, cocktails and music bars contribute to its sociable atmosphere. Check neighbouring venues with your host if quiet evenings matter.

Can I reach Kassiopi by bus?
Check Green Bus A4 and the operator’s current timetable for your dates, exact stop, last return and final route to your accommodation.

What can I explore nearby?
Avlaki and Kerasia have their own destination guides. Check the actual road or walking route before setting out; closeness on a map does not establish an easy walk.
