Sand dunes and coastline in South West Corfu

Marathias

A Long Sandy Beach and Relaxed South-West Atmosphere

About Marathias

On this page: At a glance   ·   Beaches   ·   Things to do   ·   Food & drink   ·   Where to stay

Marathias is a long sandy beach area in southern Corfu with restaurants and accommodation spread along the coast and nearby roads. It is less urbanised than the larger resort centres.

The area suits beach-focused holidays and visitors who prefer a slower pace, particularly those exploring the wider south-west by car.

A long sandy coast with room to choose

Marathias offers a beach-led day, with restaurants and accommodation spread around the shore and approaches. Select the section that matches your preferences for facilities or a quieter setting. A service at one beach business should not be assumed to extend along the whole coast or operate throughout the year.

Village and beach addresses need checking

Before booking, establish whether the property is near the sand or farther inland, and ask about the complete daily route. For a day visit, allow time for a meal and the beach rather than trying to cover several southern bays. If using a bus serving the wider area, confirm the stop and onward transfer rather than assuming it reaches the exact beach entrance. Current sea conditions, not the destination's relaxed reputation, should guide decisions about swimming.

Planning your
Kassiopi stay

Do I need a car?
A car is not essential for exploring locally, but can be useful for trips farther afield. Check your accommodation’s position and the route to the centre before deciding.

What are the beaches like?
Our individual guides cover Kalamionas, Bataria, Pipitos, Imerolia and Kanoni. Several are compact pebble coves; each has its own access and facilities.

Is Kassiopi quiet in the evenings?
Harbour-front dining, cocktails and music bars contribute to its sociable atmosphere. Check neighbouring venues with your host if quiet evenings matter.

Can I reach Kassiopi by bus?
Check Green Bus A4 and the operator’s current timetable for your dates, exact stop, last return and final route to your accommodation.

What can I explore nearby?
Avlaki and Kerasia have their own destination guides. Check the actual road or walking route before setting out; closeness on a map does not establish an easy walk.
