Messonghi
A Relaxed Coastal Resort beside the Messonghi River
About Messonghi
On this page: At a glance · Beaches · Things to do · Food & drink · Where to stay
Messonghi sits immediately south of Moraitika around the beach and river mouth. The resort has a relaxed holiday feel with hotels, apartments, tavernas and access to the sea.
Its position is convenient for exploring the south-east coast, with Moraitika next door and smaller fishing villages such as Boukari and Petriti farther south.
A stay around beach and river
Messonghi's river mouth and beach give the resort a different layout from neighbouring Moraitika. Check which side and part of the area your accommodation occupies, and ask about the route to the shore and evening venues. A short map distance does not establish the most convenient crossing or walking route.
Exploring the south-east at a slower pace
Boukari and Petriti offer separate fishing-village outings, while Moraitika adds another nearby resort setting. Pick one change of scene rather than trying to visit every coastal settlement in a day. Green Bus B7 is the named connection to investigate for Messonghi, including the current return timetable. For a longer stay, consider the practical route to shops and dinner alongside the appeal of a river or sea view.

Planning your
Kassiopi stay
Do I need a car?
A car is not essential for exploring locally, but can be useful for trips farther afield. Check your accommodation’s position and the route to the centre before deciding.
What are the beaches like?
Our individual guides cover Kalamionas, Bataria, Pipitos, Imerolia and Kanoni. Several are compact pebble coves; each has its own access and facilities.
Is Kassiopi quiet in the evenings?
Harbour-front dining, cocktails and music bars contribute to its sociable atmosphere. Check neighbouring venues with your host if quiet evenings matter.
Can I reach Kassiopi by bus?
Check Green Bus A4 and the operator’s current timetable for your dates, exact stop, last return and final route to your accommodation.
What can I explore nearby?
Avlaki and Kerasia have their own destination guides. Check the actual road or walking route before setting out; closeness on a map does not establish an easy walk.
