Afionas
Hilltop Views, Traditional Streets & Porto Timoni
ABOUT
Afionas is set above the coast rather than directly on the beach, with narrow lanes, traditional buildings and far-reaching sea views. It is also the usual starting point for the walk towards Porto Timoni, one of the most photographed coastal landscapes in this part of Corfu.
It works particularly well as a day trip from Arillas, Agios Georgios Pagon or Agios Stefanos, and is especially rewarding around late afternoon and sunset.
Views without rushing the village
Afionas is worth visiting for its lanes, meals and coastal outlook even if you do not continue to Porto Timoni. Treat a village visit and a beach descent as two separate decisions. You can enjoy the hilltop setting without committing to a longer walk down to the twin bays.
Planning Porto Timoni separately
The existing beach guide describes a steep, rocky approach and limited facilities at the shore. Decide on the route, footwear, water and return before setting out; a boat option also needs checking with the operator. For a village meal near sunset, establish your return transport and parking first. The current operator listing includes A20 for Afionas, so check that route rather than relying on older references to a different north-west bus connection.
