Glyfada
A Broad Sandy Beach on Corfu's West Coast
ABOUT
Glyfada is one of Corfu's best-known sandy beaches, backed by green hills and focused primarily on beach holidays rather than a traditional village centre. Hotels, apartments and beach venues make up much of the local visitor infrastructure.
Pelekas sits on the hills above the area and provides a contrasting village experience, while nearby beaches give visitors additional options along the west coast.
A sandy beach with different moods
Glyfada's broad sand is the main draw, but the atmosphere can vary with the stretch of shore and nearby beach venues. Choose the section that suits the day you want, and check the facilities actually operating there. A beach bar's music or services should not be assumed to describe the whole coastline.
Separating the beach from the hillside
Accommodation above the bay can involve a different route from a property near the sand. Ask about gradients, steps and the return after a beach day. Pelekas provides a separate village and viewpoint outing rather than a continuation of the shore. For public transport, check B17 services and the exact stop. If dining away from the beach in the evening, arrange the journey home before assuming it fits a late bus connection.
Getting around, beaches and evenings
Bus links connect the area with Corfu Town.
