Chalikounas
Wild Beach, Dunes & the Lake Korission Landscape
About Chalikounas
On this page: At a glance · Beaches · Things to do · Food & drink · Where to stay
Chalikounas is a long, largely natural beach running beside Lake Korission. The open landscape, dunes and wetland setting make it feel very different from Corfu's more developed resort beaches.
The exposed coastline is also associated with wind-based watersports. Visitors come primarily for nature, space, walking and the beach rather than for a dense resort centre.
Beach, lagoon and an open landscape
Chalikounas is best enjoyed for its natural shoreline and the Lake Korission setting rather than as a conventional resort centre. Choose a recognised approach and leave the dunes and wetland environment undisturbed. A nature visit and a swimming day can fit together, but the condition of each access point still needs checking locally.
Preparing for an exposed coast
Wind-based watersports are associated with the area, but participation depends on the operator, weather and your experience. Confirm the day's arrangements directly rather than assuming ideal conditions from the destination description. Plan transport to the beach and the return, and bring what your chosen stretch requires instead of expecting continuous services along the shore. If staying nearby, compare the precise address with the route to food shopping and dinner as well as the sand.
Getting around, beaches and evenings
There is no direct bus to the beach; a car or taxi is the practical option for access.

Planning your
Kassiopi stay
Do I need a car?
A car is not essential for exploring locally, but can be useful for trips farther afield. Check your accommodation’s position and the route to the centre before deciding.
What are the beaches like?
Our individual guides cover Kalamionas, Bataria, Pipitos, Imerolia and Kanoni. Several are compact pebble coves; each has its own access and facilities.
Is Kassiopi quiet in the evenings?
Harbour-front dining, cocktails and music bars contribute to its sociable atmosphere. Check neighbouring venues with your host if quiet evenings matter.
Can I reach Kassiopi by bus?
Check Green Bus A4 and the operator’s current timetable for your dates, exact stop, last return and final route to your accommodation.
What can I explore nearby?
Avlaki and Kerasia have their own destination guides. Check the actual road or walking route before setting out; closeness on a map does not establish an easy walk.
