West Corfu is dominated by dramatic coastal scenery, green hills and some of the island's most recognisable beaches and viewpoints.

Paleokastritsa is the region's best-known destination, with a coastline formed around several coves and beaches, steep green slopes and rocky formations. Boat trips offer another perspective on the coastline, while the Monastery of Paleokastritsa overlooks the area from above.

Nearby Liapades combines a traditional village with access to beautiful beaches and coastal walking. Further south, Glyfada, Pelekas and Agios Gordios provide different styles of west-coast holiday, from broad sandy beaches to hillside villages and dramatic coastal landscapes.

The west coast is generally more exposed to prevailing winds than Corfu's eastern coastline, helping create the waves, sandy beaches and striking rock formations that characterise much of this side of the island.

West Corfu is particularly suited to beach lovers, photographers, walkers, couples and independent travellers. Hiring a car can be particularly useful for discovering the smaller beaches, villages and viewpoints scattered between the main destinations.
