About Paleokastritsa

On this page: At a glance   ·   Beaches   ·   Things to do   ·   Food & drink   ·   Where to stay

Paleokastritsa is one of Corfu's most famous coastal areas, formed around a series of bays beneath steep green hills. Beaches, swimming and boat trips are central to the experience, with small boats offering access to caves and sections of coastline not easily seen from the road.

The monastery above the main bay provides a cultural and scenic highlight, while nearby Liapades and inland viewpoints make the wider area rewarding to explore beyond the waterfront.

Choose a bay rather than a broad label

Paleokastritsa includes several coastal settings beneath steep green hills. Identify the bay and access route that suit your day instead of assuming the whole destination is one level beachfront. A monastery visit, a beach afternoon and a boat excursion are different activities, each with its own opening, access or weather arrangements.

Making a varied visit manageable

Choose one or two main activities and leave time for the journeys between them. Boat trips to caves or coves should be confirmed with the operator, including the meeting point and return. For accommodation, ask about the actual route to the beach and bus stop, with gradients and steps described clearly. Green Bus A9 is the connection to check, but a stop in Paleokastritsa does not automatically put every hillside property within an easy walk.

Planning your
Kassiopi stay

Do I need a car?
A car is not essential for exploring locally, but can be useful for trips farther afield. Check your accommodation’s position and the route to the centre before deciding.

What are the beaches like?
Our individual guides cover Kalamionas, Bataria, Pipitos, Imerolia and Kanoni. Several are compact pebble coves; each has its own access and facilities.

Is Kassiopi quiet in the evenings?
Harbour-front dining, cocktails and music bars contribute to its sociable atmosphere. Check neighbouring venues with your host if quiet evenings matter.

Can I reach Kassiopi by bus?
Check Green Bus A4 and the operator’s current timetable for your dates, exact stop, last return and final route to your accommodation.

What can I explore nearby?
Avlaki and Kerasia have their own destination guides. Check the actual road or walking route before setting out; closeness on a map does not establish an easy walk.
